Membership Recruiting at Senior Fests

As most of you know, I attend a number of Senior Fun Fests around the state, from Ocala to Ft. Myers on the west coast, where I staff a NARFE recruitment table. Some of your chapter members have assisted me with these as have some of you. These "booths" can cost as much as $1500 but we get ours for $50 in return for publicizing the Senior Fests. Therefore, please take a look at the Senior Fest schedule below, and if there is one in your district, please ask your chapter/s nearby the location of the Senior Fest to kindly put something in their newsletter, and if you chapter has a website, please put it on there also.

The following describes these Senior Fests:

Senior Connection & Mature Lifestyles, award-winning magazines for seniors, are sponsoring a number of Senior Friendly Extravaganzas (Senior Fests) at various locations. These events are free to the public, parking is free, and are from 10AM to 4PM with over 200 exhibitors. Offered is live music and entertainment all day, strolling entertainers, free bingo with prizes, free health screenings, magic and balloon art, fashion and personal care, travel destinatins, free food samplings, free coffee and donuts, and $1000 in prizes and giveaways. There is a one mile fun walk as 9:30AM and a grandkid photo contest. Below is the schedule of these Senior Fests:

Lee Civic Center, Ft. Myers, Oct. 15 & 16, 2008

Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Nov. 19 & 20, 2008

Florida State Fairgrounds, Expo Hall, Tampa, Jan. 21 & 22, 2009

Cultural Center of Charlotte County, Port Charlotte, April 22, 2009

Central Florida Community College, Senior Institute, Ocala, May 15, 2009

Attend for fun and/or assist staffing your NARFE recruitment booth.

I already know that Jim and Beulah Greene and their members are assisting me at Ft. Myers, but if you come up with volunteers for the other Senior Fests, please email me so we can coordinate.

Thanks to all,

Ed Fleck
