The goal of the Spotlight on Members initiative is to present to those audiences a different picture of NARFE members, and have Chapters recognize members for their achievements.   

NARFE members are not just a bunch of retired feds trying to save their retirement benefits.  NARFE members have contributed and continue to contribute to our communities and the nation.  If you ask, you would be amazed at what NARFE members do and have done. Our PR Team should highlight our members varied and interesting histories at Chapter meetings and in the local press.  And, believe me, your local press is eager for these types of community/human interest articles. 

As the Federation’s PR Chair and the PR Chair in Cape Coral Chapter 1002, I will walk the walk, not just talk the talk, on this initiative.  In Cape Coral, am planning to issue a “Spotlight on...” a member on a monthly basis and sending it to the local press.   In fact, the local newspaper in Cape Coral has actually interviewed several members and printed extensive articles based on the Press Releases I sent them in the past few months. 

I encourage you all to embrace this initiative.  I am hoping that each Chapter will do a member spotlight at their meetings, and send a Press Release thereafter to the local newspapers.
